Chapter 15: Danger and the Meeting

***

With the help of ice-cold drinks, the second half of the perimeter check wasn't as much of a struggle.

The newly regenerated barrier was already putting in work, messing with the Curses' senses and lowkey nerfing their appetite for the humans inside.

"The Young Lady really is living in a bubble, huh?"

Geto Suguru let that slide out—who knows why, maybe he was just bored.

"True."

She owned it without hesitation, and that honest answer made Geto Suguru’s lips curl into a smirk.

"Sign here if the check is Gucci. I’m heading out."

Geto Suguru took the paperwork from a nearby sorcerer and handed it to Fuwa Yozora.

Her name landed right where the school administration was supposed to sign. She glanced up at him.

"I have plans this weekend, so I can't go Curse-hunting with you."

She gave him the heads-up early so this eccentric high schooler wouldn't think she was just making excuses to ghost him.

Geto Suguru shrugged.

"I actually have plans this weekend too."

"Fair enough."

"I'm out?"

"See ya."

The sorcerers in charge of the barrier overheard the whole exchange and couldn't help but think: Why do they sound like a couple cancelling a date? Going out to exorcise Curses was a pretty weird "date" idea, but if it was Geto Suguru, it honestly wasn't that out of pocket.

The barrier sorcerers obviously didn't say anything—at most, it was just some tea for later. They weren't brave enough to catch smoke with a Special Grade.

When Fuwa Yozora returned to class after lunch, she definitely felt the eyes on her again.

She walked straight to her window seat without looking back. The adrenaline from earlier had actually cured her sleepiness.

Immediately, a girl she barely knew crowded her space.

"So Fuwa likes that 'bad boy' aesthetic?"

She acted like she was Fuwa Yozora’s bestie, even though she usually felt salty toward the pretty, quiet girl.

Even if she wasn't into guys, no matter how much Fuwa Yozora tried to be an NPC, plenty of boys had already realized she was a whole hidden gem.

Fuwa Yozora stared out the window, her voice flat.

"You've got it twisted. I don't catch feelings for him like that."

"Don't be shy~ How'd you meet? Does he have friends?"

Fuwa Yozora thought of the silver-haired boy with the shades and the glitched-out numbers over his head.

Hard pass. That guy looked dangerous too.

"No idea."

Fuwa Yozora’s mid response annoyed the girl.

What a freak—always acting cold and gatekeeping her life. "Tch, whatever. I'm gonna get a super hot boyfriend soon anyway."

Fuwa Yozora sighed. What a headache. She hated these misunderstandings, but she was too lazy to explain. The rumors would fall off eventually.

She was more focused on the weekend meeting with the Hanaha-kai. Securing the Yokohama Port would bring in massive bags.

That was just Step One. She remembered the Hanaha-kai’s main HQ was in Osaka.

Fuwa Yozora propped up her chin and started doodling in her notebook, looking like a girl deep in thought. Everyone assumed it was "lover girl" behavior.

Please. The Young Lady is playing on a completely different level.

Tomizawa Tenmei continued his daily chauffeur duties. The news that Geto Suguru was part of the jujutsu team sent to the school today had already reached his ears.

Fuwa Yozora’s expression remained chill, and Fuwa Nogawa had already said he was fine with her seeing Geto Suguru.

But Tomizawa Tenmei used to be a sorcerer. Even though he’d been grinding in the real world with Fuwa Nogawa since graduating from Jujutsu High, he still understood sorcerers.

Geto Suguru gave him weird vibes—like he wasn't actually down to work for the jujutsu higher-ups.

Sorcerers were supposed to be all about "absolute justice," but Geto Suguru felt like a total rebel.

Maybe he was just overthinking?

Meanwhile, at the Osaka HQ, Kidomichi Ryo received an invitation from the Tokyo Sanyei-gumi.

He was invited to meet Saturday night at "Matsukawa," a high-end Kaiseki restaurant in Minato, Tokyo.

The Sanyei-gumi had booked the entire night at this expensive, members-only spot. It showed they were serious, but Kidomichi Ryo knew this was a "Trap Dinner."

Two of the lackeys involved in the kidnapping attempt hadn't returned, and the job had gone sideways, with the police getting involved.

Yet the Sanyei-gumi’s Young Lady was completely unharmed.

There was no way to prove those two lackeys hadn't snitched on the Hanaha-kai, but Fuwa Nogawa was a total fox.

Kidomichi Ryo was a man in his early thirties. Since his father was sick in the hospital, he had taken over as the Oyabun (boss) of the Hanaha-kai.

He’d been in the trenches with his father since his teens and was a "young and successful" figure in the mafia, though he was a bit too impulsive.

His brand was being extremely violent, which usually worked—until he ran into the Sanyei-gumi.

He wasn't a coward, so he’d obviously accept the invite.

As long as there was no evidence, the Sanyei-gumi was just wasting money on an expensive meal.

"Matsukawa" was located on a quiet street in Akasaka. Today, the vibe was tense. Plenty of black sedans were parked along the road, with guys in black suits gathered in small groups.

From the moment Kidomichi Ryo stepped out of his car, he felt the piercing stares. They were from the Sanyei-gumi executives.

他 casually ran a hand through his semi-long black hair, shot a narrow-eyed look at the Sanyei-gumi men, and walked into Matsukawa alone.

Only three servings of Kaiseki had been ordered for today; no one else was allowed inside.

Two people were already waiting on the tatami mats. Kidomichi Ryo was no stranger to the handsome, middle-aged man in the deep red suit—that was Fuwa Nogawa.

Then his gaze landed on the girl beside him, dressed in a matching kimono.

Kidomichi Ryo’s eyes shifted.

The deep red kimono made the girl’s skin look like snow. Her jet-black hair was pinned up, revealing a slender, creamy neck.

The spider lily in her hair made her look breathtakingly beautiful. Her makeup was minimal, making those pale violet eyes look incredibly clear and captivating.

She leaned forward slightly to pour the sake, her graceful wrists making him want to capture them.

She’s gorgeous. The Sanyei-gumi heiress—the girl he’d only seen in photos.

Tch. I should’ve just kidnapped her straight to my mansion that day. Kidomichi Ryo’s gaze was so thirsty that Fuwa Nogawa gripped the gun hidden inside his suit jacket, his eyes sharp as a blade.

You little punk. What are you looking at my daughter for? If you want to die, just say so.
